Jim Hancock

At 27, Jim found photography by way of a girlfriend who not only bought him his first camera, but also provided him with his first model. Jim became obsessed, this medium was a combination of art and gadgetry that suited him perfectly. Within a year, Jim quit his job and has been behind the camera nonstop for over 15 years.

Jim's unique combination of artistic talent and thirst for technology has made him a great image producer, particularly known for his exceptional lighting and creativity. Jim's prowess behind the camera, and love of the female form earned him a reputation shooting fashion, beauty, lingerie, and fine art nudes.

This reputation caught the attention of an agent who sent his portfolio to Playboy headquarters in Chicago. This was the beginning of defining the direction he would go with his imagery.

The Playboy gig set the stage that paved the way for Jims reputation as one of America's premier erotic photographers. The knowledge Jim gained with Playboy coupled with his art and fashion experience has made quite a versatile imagist out of Jim.

The last few years Jim has produced independently one of the most prolific array of erotic and pin up imagery available anywhere. Jim is now producing complete erotic photo sets for magazines, calendars, and posters.

Jim considers himself a people photographer or - a more appropriate title - imagist, avoiding pigeon hole tags, such as fashion photographer or glamour photographer.

Jim shot his first film project 6 years ago. A short he wrote, directed, and shot on 16mm film. Today, Jim still takes on film projects and music videos. He typically sees the project through from conception, building the set, lighting it, directing and shooting the film, then finally, editing the project.

These days, Jim spends as much time behind a computer as a camera. Creating digital still and motion pictures with a computer, designing to the clients wishes or maybe just his, depends on the day. "
